A contemporary multi-arts, dining and conference venue right in the heart of the city, the Brisbane Powerhouse Museum is the city’s premier culture location.

A year round program of over 1000 events fuels the Museum’s philosophy of arts, culture and community. Music, comedy, dance, visual arts, film and festivals are just some of the mediums that showcase the amazing talent, heritage and culture of Brisbane and beyond.

The Brisbane Powerhouse Museum is housed in an old industrial power station, firmly cementing the building as a part of Brisbane’s history. The first part of the building was built in 1928 as part of the city’s growing tram system. Following it’s decommission it was home to part of Brisbane’s homeless population for some 20 years before being renovated into the museum it is today. As well as regularly accommodating performances in its theatres, the museum hosts weekend farmer’s markets and serves as a public space for weddings and special events.

There are always a range of events happening at the Brisbane Powerhouse Museum. Some, like the twice monthly farmer’s markets, and ‘Livewired,’ a weekly session of free comedy, happen with regular recurrence. For performances and exhibitions with a limited run, the museum’s website is the place to see what’s happening. Around 20 events are happening in the next month alone!

Whilst the Brisbane Powerhouse museum is an excellent cultural destination in the city, why leave it there? Take a Brisbane city highlights tour for a guided insight into Brisbane’s larger history and landmarks.
